Society of Biology

ASAB is a member of the Society of Biology, which was founded in 2002 in order to create a single authority within the UK life sciences that decision-makers are able to consult for opinion and information to assist the formulation of public policy.

It brings together the strengths of 34 organizations, including the Institute of Biology, which represents 45 additional affiliated societies. The organizations that have already joined the Biosciences Federation represent a cumulative membership of some 65,000 bioscientists and cover the whole spectrum from physiology and neuroscience, biochemistry and microbiology to ecology and agriculture.

The Biosciences Federation is a registered charity (no. 1103894).

Notes

1. The table lists societies that invite student members of other societies to attend their meetings at the same rates and conditions as apply to their own student members.

2. The arrangement does not include any travel bursaries or special awards to cover accommodation costs that a society may provide uniquely for its own student members.
