ASAB provides grants each academic year for teachers (in either the primary or secondary sectors of education) to produce resources for colleagues in the classroom to use. Occasionally, a grant is given to an individual working in another area of education, provided the resource is targeted at classroom teachers, from infants to sixth formers.

ASAB provides a grant to release the teacher from the classroom for the equivalent of a period of 5 days. The successful teacher would work with one of the academic members of the ASAB Education Committee to develop their idea, which would be tested in their own school or college and in at least one other institution. The aim will be to publish the outcomes of their research in an educational journal, in FEEDBACK (the ASAB Education Newsletter) and/or through a presentation at an educational conference. The teacher would have full use of the university library facilities for their research. The developed resource would be placed on the ASAB website (Education section) to be available for download by colleagues.

Any teacher wishing to be considered for a teacher researcher position, which can be taken up at any time of the year that is mutually convenient for the teacher, their school or college and the university supervisor, should write to Charlotte Evans, the ASAB Education Officer. In your letter of application you need to provide a short curriculum vitae and, in 200 - 300 words, outline your potential project that will help in the teaching of animal behaviour in schools and colleges.
